On Saturday June 5, 2010 the National Museum of the Marine Corps will open three new galleries adding 12,000 square feet of inteactive exhibits. It will include 250 new artifacts not displayed previously

  • The founding of the Corps during the Revolutionary War era.
  • Civil War and the 19th century international trade expansion
  • World War I which will include an interactive exhibit in a forest during the Battle of Belleau Wood and will include a German machine gunner on one side and the Marines charging on the other

The three existing exhibits are World War II, Korean War and thr Viet Nam War.

Additionally, there is a new exhibit that will allow visitors to create an individual John Philip Sousa concert by the Us Marine Band.

This museum is rapidly becoming one of the premier attractions for visitors to the National Capital Area – it should be on your “must see” list.
